Forward

Today we will go back to a cult-favorite brand Round Lab and talk about its popular creation - the 1025 Dokdo Lotion. Previously, we chatted about the brand's bestselling Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen (reviewed here),  Birch Moisturizing Cream (read more here), Mugwort Calming Toner (read more here), and the Pine Calming Cica Ampoule (read more here). These products turned out to be amazing, so let's see if Dokdo line will live up to its claims as well.

My Skin: dry, sensitive

About the Product

Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Lotion (22 USD; Made in Korea) - is described as a low-irritant lotion that provides rich moisture and all-day hydration.

PACKAGING

In my opinion, Round Lab have the most memorable packaging thanks to quirky and cute illustrations on every product. The Dokdo range can be recognized thanks to its adorable little otter. The design of the product itself is minimal and simple - a clear plastic bottle containing 200 ml/ 6.76 fl oz of lotion. While this is not the most travel-friendly size, one 1025 Dokdo Lotion will last you a long time. You also see manufacturing and expiration dates on both the bottle and the box, which is a useful detail.

FORMULA

The 1025 Dokdo Lotion contains a variety of emollients, humectants, barrier-supporting lipids, and antioxidants. The formula is water-based and rich in Glycerin (occlusive), Macadamia Seed Oil (intense hydration), Sugarcane Extract (humectant), Sea Water (rich in minerals), and more.

😊 PROS

The formula features a strong hydration system (Pentylene Glycol, Betaine, Panthenol, Hyaluronic Acid, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate), barrier support (Squalane, Macadamia Seed Oil, Irish Moss, Hydrogenated Rice Bran Oil, Hydrogenated Olive Oil), and anti-inflammatory ingredients (Allantoin, Holy Basil Extract, Licorice, Turmeric Root Extract).

☹️ CONS

Although most Round Lab products are well-suited for people with sensitive skin, some botanical extracts may be slightly irritating for certain individuals. It is wise to review the full ingredient list prior to purchase.

Personally speaking, I did not face any adverse reactions while using the product.

Cruelty-free🐇

TEXTURE

The product has a silky-smooth, easily-spreadable, light and non-greasy consistency. It absorbs with ease. While the liquid appears milky-white, it sets clear.

FINISH

Glowing, hydrated skin.

SCENT

Fragrance-free.

APPLICATION

The 1025 Dokdo Lotion can be used both during AM and PM routines. The suggested application is to layer this lotion over toner, serum, and before sunscreen. Think of this product as a lightweight moisturizer that delivers deep hydration without a heavy or rich feel.

On average, it takes this lotion about a minute to fully absorb. From my experience, it pairs exceptionally well with most skincare, suncare, and makeup formulas. No peeling or balling in sight.

first impression

Skin feels instantly soft and hydrated. Any existing irritation is calmed, redness subdued. The sensation of well-moisturized skin lasts well throughout the day.

long-term use

With consistent use, skin becomes soft and well-balanced. While the 1025 Dokdo Lotion does not prevent breakouts from occuring, it supports the skin's healing process, helping minimize scarring or post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation thanks to its strong barrier support. This formula also pairs well with actives, ensuring minimal irritation.

Round Lab 1025 Dokdo Lotion Review

Verdict

I realize there has not been a single Round Lab product that I have been disappointed by. When it comes to sensitive-skin-friendly formulas, these are brilliant. The 1025 Dokdo Lotion surprised me in several ways. Normally, a lightweight lotion would not provide enough hydration for a dry skin type, but this formula performed much better than expected. It keeps my skin feeling bouncy and barrier healthy. Naturally, in drier, colder climates you would likely need something richer, but for warmer months this product has been excellent. It boosts skin barrier and moisturizes on a deep level. I am happy to say this is one of the best skincare discoveries of the year so far and give it an A+.
