Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen, Review

Round Lab Birch Moisturizing Sunscreen Review

fun in the sun

Foreword

In today's review, we will chat about one of the most talked about sunscreens on social media by the Round Lab. In the past, I have reviewed and raved about the brand's Birch Moisturizing Cream (read more here) and Mugwort Calming Toner (read more here), so I am excited to explore more from this viral line with you guys.

My Skin: dry, sensitive

About the Product

Round Lab Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen (28 USD; Made in Korea) - is described as a skin-nourishing and moisturizing sunscreen that offers SPF 50+ PA++++ protection.

Packaging: true to the brand's identity, this design is cute-looking and practical. The sunscreen comes in classic tube packaging of a portable, travel-friendly size. You get 50 ml/ 1.69 fl oz worth of product. Besides the 12-month shelf life, I appreciate the actual expiration date being printed on the box. I believe Western brands should aim at this level of transparency, as I find seeing the manufacture date quite helpful.

Formula: this is a water-based formula rich in Propanediol (skin-smoothing emollient), Niacinamide (offers protection, brightening, and helps build protein in the skin), and Glycerin (hydration). A smaller percentage of Japanese White Birch Juice Extract (skin brightening), Sodium Hyaluronate, Hyaluronic Acid (hydration), Allantoin (heals skin irritations), Tocopherol (Vitamin E, moisture), and other plant-based extracts. The Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen is a chemical sunscreen.

Texture: weightless, watery-gel consistency of white color with a soft blue shift to it. It layers and absorbs with ease, as well as leaves no white cast.

Scent: none.

Application: ideally used at the end of your AM routine. The Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen feels instantly hydrated. With its serum-like feel, it glides on like a dream and leaves a soft glow sheen behind.

As a makeup wearer, I pay a lot of attention to how well my sunscreen plays with other products that are layered on top of it. The biggest pet peeve is peeling or balling up. Thankfully, the Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen works like a charm with makeup. It gets absorbed just like a light moisturizer would.

Also, it is worth noting that even after the use of actives like Retinol or AHAs/BHAs, this formula feels wonderfully comfortable on the skin. No stinging or redness.

Wear: comfortable, weightless. Neither overly moisturizing nor drying. Even after long hours with it on, including being out in the sun or having a sweaty workout session, it did not feel itchy or irritating.

Verdict

If you are on the hunt for a lightly hydrating, fuss-free, high-protection sunscreen the Birch Juice Moisturizing Sunscreen might be the one for you. I believe a formula like this will suit most skin types (unless, of course, there is a general skin incompatibility with one of the ingredients) and work well for both makeup wearers and those who just want a potent sunscreen for daily wear. This Round Lab makes the use of sunscreen that much easier and enjoyable. It is one of those skincare products that I find myself looking forward to applying, which for a reviewer speaks volumes. I think the hype is real with this one and give it an A++ rating.
