Laura Mercier RoseGlow Collection, Review

Laura Mercier RoseGlow Collection Review

roses do not bloom hurriedly... for beauty, like any masterpiece, takes time to blossom

Foreword

Hello, hello my dear friends! In today's post we will be finally chatting about Laura Mercier eye-catching RoseGlow Collection that includes never-seen-before shades of Caviar Stick and a brand new powder highlighter.

Curious? Then please keep on scrolling

Caviar Stick

Laura Mercier RoseGlow Collection Review

Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Shadow (29 USD; Made in USA) - is a cream eye color in a retractable pencil form that is available in a plethora of shades and finishes (ranging from matte to metallic). Read full review here.

Caviar Stick is one of the brand's standout products (and is certainly my personal favorite), so it is quite exciting to see six brand new shades in this season's RoseGlow Collection.

Something that is unique to this year's release is the fact that this is the first nude collection by Laura Mercier, which explains why all shades run on a classy, bronze/rose-gold side. They all have a metallic finish, with some colors showing a bit of fine shimmer in them. Quality-wise these are on par with the brand's original collection of Caviar Stick: creamy, pigmented, buildable, user-friendly and long-lasting. Added bonus? Mega luxurious limited edition rose gold packaging.

As always all of my swatches are raw and unedited (shot in natural daylight)

R-L: Wild Rose, Kiss From A Rose, Strike A Rose, Bed Of Roses, Forbidden Rose, Rose Thorn

As you can see from the swatches, these tones do belong to one "rose" family (hence the names). While you might not need all of them, I would definitely highlight Bed Of Roses and Kiss From A Rose as the most standout and light reflective colors in this collection. Other shades do have duplicates in the brand's original Caviar Stick line.

Wear them alone, as a primer (oh yes, they are that good), eyeliner or mixed with your cream or powder eyeshadows - options are endless. Just let your inner makeup artist shine!

final thoughts

I think that if you are a big fan of the Caviar Stick line in general, you might find a few shades here to add to your personal collection. I love the fact that once these set, they do not move anywhere, yet still remain glistening and vibrant. A big yes and A+ from me.

Highlighting Powder

Laura Mercier RoseGlow Collection Review

Laura Mercier Highlighting Powder (30 USD; Made in Italy) - is described as a rosy-neutral highlighting shade that adjusts to your complexion. Limited edition.

Now, the brand offers various types of highlighters, some of them being more subdued and some more high-shine. This shade called Rose Glow falls right in the middle; I would actually describe it as your grown-up, sophisticated highlighter that adds satin glow to your complexion. This texture is smooth, yet not "creamy" to the touch. If you squint hard you might see some fine bits of shimmer once it is on the skin, however, nothing obvious to the naked eye.

Given this product's hard pressed texture, I do recommend using either a densely packed highlighter brush for ultimate glowing results or a fine powder brush for just a kiss of glow. This Highlighting Powder is buildable, so you can always add more to areas that you want to bring more light to. The shade Rose Glow adapts well to my skin tone (I have a light-neutral complexion), creating an effect of a healthy, natural glow. Ideally I would go for a lighter shade, however, with a neutral-toned blush, this rosy hue too can look quite pretty. It does not accentuate texture or pores.

final thoughts

I must admit that initially I didn't quite know whether I would like this formula or not. After all I am used to more wet-looking, reflecting off the Sun kinds of highlighters. Rose Glow is more of a shy shade for my taste. Having said that, I know a lot of beauty enthusiasts will be happy to have this gem in their collection - it is all a matter of personal taste. As far as quality, application and wear go, you can't go wrong with Laura Mercier. All in all, I give it B+
