Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence Review

have you heard about galactomyces?

Foreword

Truthfully, until I came across today's guest-star, I had no clue what galactomyces ferment was. Curiosity got the best of me, and I took a leap of faith. After all, I am a huge fan of the brand's award-winning Snail Advanced Mucin 96 (reviewed here), so I hoped for the best. What happened next, you will find in this post.

About the Product

Cosrx Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence (24 USD; Made in Korea) - is described as an essence that helps nourish and hydrate the skin, making it appear more radiant and clear over time.

Packaging: true to the Cosrx style, you look at a simple yet ergonomic design. The essence is housed in a simple plastic bottle with a pump, which allows preservation of the product's freshness and hygienic use. In total, you work with 100 ml/ 3.38 fl oz worth of product. This is an exact same amount you get with the Snail Advanced Mucin 96 (reviewed here).

Recyclable ♻️

Formula: the essence is rich in Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate, Niacinamide (combats hyperpigmentation, evens out the skin tone), Panthenol (B5, moisture, soothing), Glycerin (occlusive layer, moisture). Followed by 1,2-Hexanediol (emollient), Sodium Hyaluronate (hydration), Allantoin (supports skin barrier), and more.

PROS☺️

Don't you love it when the advertised ingredients are mentioned at the top of the list? I certainly do. The Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence is based on 95% of the Galactomyces Ferment Filtrate (a powerful antioxidant, protects skin from environmental stress and brightens its tone). I also appreciate that this formula contains zero alcohol.

CONS😕

Nothing. Unless there are ingredients here that your skin does not agree with.

Cruelty-free🐇

Texture: the Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence has a clear, non-viscous consistency. It is neither watery, nor thick. In comparison to the brand's iconic Snail Advanced Mucin 96, it feels lighter and not nearly as slimy. Absorbs with ease.

Scent: none.

Application: the Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence can be easily used as part of both AM and PM routines. It plays well with all kinds of products, which makes it quite versatile. Ideally, an essence of this kind is used after cleansers/toners and before serums/moisturizers. One to two pumps are all you need for your face and neck. Lock it in with a moisturizer. Avoid the eye area.

first impression

Absorbs in seconds and instantly hydrates the skin. Other products layer well on top of it without ever causing irritation or pilling. The essence wears well throughout the day, keeping skin plump and well-moisturized. It does not disrupt sunscreen or makeup.

long-term use

While it was noticeably hydrating, initially it was hard to tell if it was doing anything else to benefit the skin. I would say that after a month or two was when I could see actual results. My skin was noticeably brighter, more radiant, and clearer. It worked well for my type of sensitive skin and caused no adverse reaction.

Verdict

If your skin is looking dull and lackluster, and you want to improve its tone and clarity, look this way. While results will take time, they are truly worth it. The Galactomyces 95 Tone Balancing Essence is a reliable, easy-to-use product, that you can incorporate into any routine. This product is a true multi-tasker and team-player. It may not be as nourishing as the brand's Snail Advanced Mucin 96, but it will definitely bright things up. This formula does improve the quality of the skin and with that, I give it a solid A+.
