My Skin: dry, sensitive
About the Product
Youth To The People Polypeptide-121 Future Cream (64 USD; Made in USA) - is described as an all-skin types moisturizer that firms, strengthens, and protects the skin's moisture barrier. It should help minimize the look of wrinkles and fine lines.
Packaging: simple yet modern aesthetic. The Polypeptide-121 Future Cream is housed in a vibrant green glass jar containing 59 ml/ 2 fl oz of the actual product. Compared to other brands, this is a generous amount. This packaging is weighty and fully recyclable.
Formula: a unique feature of the Polypeptide-121 Future Cream is that it combines a mix of vegan proteins, ceramides, and Polypeptide-121 which is supposed to visibly firm and reduce the signs of aging. This is essentially an amino acid/fatty acids/antioxidant-rich water-based formula made with Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid (hydration), Propanediol (hydration and better absorption of other ingredients), Panthenol, Niacinamide (Vitamin B3), and Aloe to name a few. Tetrapeptides 3, 1, and 11 are also added to visibly strengthen and improve the natural skin barrier as we age.
Vegan🌱 Cruelty-free🐇
Texture: this formula feels buttery smooth and spreads with ease. The consistency is quite whipped and cushiony, bordering on the rich cream side yet not quite as thick.
Scent: fragrance-free.
Application: the Polypeptide-121 Future Cream works quite well for both AM and PM routines. You only need about a pea-sized amount for your entire face (add more for the neck/decollete). Although intensely moisturizing, this product leaves a natural sheen and does not look greasy. From my experience, this formula played quite well with various serums and toners.
First Impression
Upon application, you almost feel like you are giving your skin a glass of water and a hug. This Youth To The People creation is hands down one of the most instantly hydrating products I have ever tried. It glides on like silk, feels weightless, and keeps skin well-balanced/hydrated up until your next skincare routine. Sits well under makeup, with no pilling or greasiness.
long-term results
Since I have been only testing this cream for a month, I will post more updates in the future. From what I have noticed thus far - my skin has become a lot more supple, replenished with proper moisture, rejuvenated, and overall healthy looking. I do get an occasional hormonal breakout here and there, but I have noticed that my skin is more resilient now. It almost bounces back to normal quicker, compared to how it was before. I also get little to no dry patches.
Verdict
For someone who is searching for an intensely hydrating, skin-barrier strengthening moisturizer - look this way. It is too soon to say anything about firming, but as far as hydration goes - this formula is great. Having dry skin, I find myself looking forward to applying the Polypeptide-121 Future Cream as it is a joy to use. Although potent, it never feels heavy which makes me think that it might work for almost all skin types including sensitive and dehydrated (unless you see any ingredients that could irritate you). This Youth To The People creation could also work incredibly well for those of you living in drier climates. All in all, I am enjoying it as part of my skincare routine and give it an A.
