RMS Beauty ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush Review

the pioneers of the clean movement

Foreword

Rose-Marie Swift, one of the World's top makeup artists and founder of RMS Beauty, keeps surprising us with gorgeous product launches. Recently, the brand expanded its beloved blush line, and I could not help but treat myself to a couple of things. After all, I am new to the brand, yet I want to know what the hype is all about.

About the Product

RMS Beauty ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush (36 USD; Made in Italy) - is described as a lightweight, bouncy blush that is blendable, multi-dimensional, and long-lasting.

Packaging: the blush comes in a refillable compact that is made with 75% recycled plastic. You look at a nice portable size, and the brand gets bonus points for including a sleek mirror. Refills can be purchased separately (29 USD each). I was pleasantly surprised by the packaging of the refill as it came in a sealed carton box of its own and a removable clear plastic cap (which is excellent for storing purposes). You get 7g/ 0.25 oz of product, which is a generous amount compared to other brands within the same price range.

Shade: Crystal Slipper

Formula: RMS Beauty consider themselves the pioneers of the clean beauty movement, and the ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush is a good example of how one can utilize skin-loving ingredients in a makeup formulation. While the exact order varies from shade to shade, generally you find Glycerin (hydration), Squalane (moisturizing), Chondrus Crispus Extract (nourishing), Jojoba Seed Oil (protective barrier), Buriti Fruit Oil (antioxidant), Rosemary Leaf Extract (anti-inflammatory), and Tocopherol (form of Vitamin E) to name a few.

RMS Beauty ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush Review

Texture: you look at a variation of a baked blush. This means that, initially, it had a liquid form before it was "baked" into powder. To be precise, the ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush is a gel-to-powder technology. Gels can be embossed or pressed into an intricate shape vs a traditional baked powder, which has a classic domed shape. Gels are also less powdery, but can be hard to pick up with a brush. For that reason, I am happy that RMS Beauty went for a gem-cut shape, with a lot of edges and dips, which makes it easy to deposit enough powder onto the brush.

The ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush is smooth, finely milled with Mica; neither glittery nor chunky.

Shade: Bohemian Girl

Scent: none.

Shades: currently available in ten shades. The ones you see in this post are new to the range. Crystal Slipper (a sheer sunkissed buff) and Bohemian Girl (a retro, sunny, 70's peach). The pigmentation on both is sheer to buildable. These are multi-dimensional shades, almost with a bit of a color shift to them (think gold to peach or rose to tan). Bohemian Girl appears a touch more peachy-pink in person vs photos.

Finish: luminous, radiant. Neither glittery, metallic, nor powdery. The glow of the ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush is flattering, without an accentuation of skin texture. This blush reflects the light beautifully.

Shade: Bohemian Girl, Crystal Slipper (applied vs. blended out)

Application: a densely packed blush brush with medium-length bristles is your best friend here. Anything flimsy or overly fluffy might not work that well. The formula of the ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush is so user-friendly, it practically blends itself out into a perfect flush without you trying (and without disrupting products underneath it). Since some shades are sheerer than others, you might need to add a few layers to amp up the tone.

These also apply incredibly well on top of a cream or liquid blush. Say, you want to lock things in place - these are the perfect powders for that, as they will amplify the color and add dimension without dimming the glow.

I never experienced patchiness while working with this RMS Beauty creation.

Wear: naturally, the brighter or deeper the shade, the longer it will last on the skin. Sheer tones, like Crystal Slipper, for example, wear off a bit quicker. On average, you should expect at least 4-5 hours of wear before there is any noticeable fading. The fading is quite graceful, I must add. The ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush shades I own do not feel dry even after 8 hours of wear.

Verdict

If you love a good glowing cheek, you are in for a treat with RMS Beauty. I have tried a plethora of gel-to-powder baked blushes in the past, all by top-notch brands, and it was not always a walk in the park. Sometimes you have the prettiest embossing in front of you, but no matter how much you swirl your brush in that compact, nothing is picked up. And do not get me started on the inevitable hardpan. Thankfully, none of that occurred with the ReDimension Hydra Powder Blush. These blushes have a beautiful look and feel to them. They are flattering on beauties of all ages and appear both modern and classy at the same time. The question is - what color to choose? Some are sheerer than others, but either way, you have many options on how to incorporate them into your daily makeup routine. As for me, I am quite happy with my discovery and give these an A+ rating.
