Sol De Janeiro Body Badalada Vitamin Infused Lotion Review

Brazil has entered the chat

Foreword

Sol De Janeiro have been gracing us with one stellar body-care launch after another. Previously we chatted about the best-selling Bum Bum Cream (reviewed here), Délicia Drench Body Butter (reviewed here), as well as Hair & Body Perfume Mists (reviewed here). And today we will focus on a newer product category - Body Badalada. Let's do some comparison and see what is special about this formula.

My Skin: dry, sensitive

About the Product

Sol De Janeiro Body Badalada Vitamin-Infused Lotion (32 USD; Made in USA) - is a lightweight body lotion, infused with vitamins and Hyaluronic Acid, promising up to 24-hour hydration. Currently available in Cheirosa '62 Scent, with more variations expected soon.

PACKAGING

The new design features a pump bottle of a bright yellow color, which contains 400 ml/ 13.52 oz of product. You can conveniently recycle the bottle at selected Sephora stores. While not particularly portable, you can easily pump out a necessary amount of the lotion into a travel-sized container.

FORMULA

The Body Badalada Vitamin-Infused Lotion features a water-based formula enriched with humectants (Glycerin, Sodium Hyaluronate, Dipropylene Glycol), emollients (Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Rice Bran Oil, Brazil Nut Oil), and occlusives (Dimethicone and fatty alcohols).

😊 PROS

The formula is rich in skin-friendly lipids and oils, namely Rice Bran Oil, Brazil Nut Oil, and Prickly Pear Extract. These ingredients are a great source of antioxidants and provide soothing, barrier-supportive properties. You also get a dose of Sugar Cane Extract (anti-aging, gentle exfoliation), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Coconut Fruit Extract (deep hydration, barrier protection), Radish Root Ferment Extract (anti-inflammatory, skin soothing) to name a few.

☹️ CONS

This formula includes fragrance as well as potential fragrance allergens that may irritate very sensitive or reactive skin (Limonene, Coumarin, Benzyl Salicylate, Hydroxycitronellal, Benzaldehyde, Rose Ketones, and Tetramethyl Acetyloctahydronaphthalenes). There are also no strong actives present, so hydration is the key benefit of the Body Badalada Vitamin-Infused Lotion.

Personally speaking, I did not face any adverse reactions while using the product.

TEXTURE

The product has a silky-smooth, easily-spreadable, light and non-greasy consistency. It absorbs with ease.

SCENT

The Body Badalada Vitamin-Infused Lotion carries the iconic Cheirosa '62 Scent, the same fragrance found in the Bum Bum Cream (reviewed here). Between the two, the latter presents a stronger perfume body, while the same scent in the lotion is not as long-lasting.

The scent itself is a delicious gourmand blend of Salted Caramel, Pistachio, and Vanilla. It is sweet, warm, and one to remember. You can read more about this and other Sol de Janeiro fragrances in a separate review here.

APPLICATION

The Body Badalada Vitamin-Infused Lotion is an all-over body product. You can use it any time you feel like giving your skin a bit of hydration. Because the consistency is reasonably lighter than that of the Bum Bum Cream, it absorbs quickly and leaves a non-sticky finish.

first impression

Skin feels instantly soft and hydrated. The finish is slightly radiant yet shimmer-free. At first I was worried it would not be moisturizing enough for my dry skin, however, it still gets the job done.

long-term use

With a consistent use, skin becomes velvety smooth and noticeably nourished. Although this product is not nearly as moisturizing as the Delícia Drench Body Butter (reviewed here), it does work well during warmer months of the year or in a hotter, humid climate.

WEAR

The sensation of hydration lasts, however, it is not as powerful as that of Sol de Janeiro tub creams. The scent dissipates after a couple of hours, but may linger longer on clothes. I often notice it building up on my skin mid intense workouts. Wear is comfortable, lightweight, and non-irritating.

Verdict

The Body Badalada Vitamin-Infused Lotion is a summer romance in a bottle. Its easy-going, flirtatious, and warm nature is truly enticing. For the brand's first lightweight lotion this is a solid launch. It is weightless, comforting, and nourishing. You get a generous amount of product and the pump makes it easy to use. I believe this formula is ideal for anyone who wants to enjoy the signature scent and hydration of the Bum Bum Cream but prefers a lighter texture than the brand's traditional cream. The scent too, although present, is more subdued. I am excited to see what other variations of Body Badalada we will get next (hopefully something with actives) and give this product an A rating.
