did someone say "delicious" moisture?

My Skin: dry, sensitive
About the Product
Sol de Janeiro Delícia Drench Body Butter (48 USD; Made in USA) - is described as a rich body cream that deeply hydrates, nourishes, and repairs skin's protective barrier. It should also calm redness and soothe the skin.
Packaging: all body creams and scrubs by Sol de Janeiro have the same packaging. A distinctive feature of the new product is its bright iris-purple coloring. The Delícia Drench Body Butter comes in a weighty plastic jar with a big lid and a curvy bottom. In it, you get a protective second lid that prevents the product from drying out or spilling. Currently, you can choose from two sizes including small (75 ml/ 2.5 oz) and big (240 ml/ 8.1 oz).
Recyclable ♻️
Formula: a water-based formulation made of the most skin-soothing ingredients. Compared to the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream, you look at a much richer ingredient list as far as deep and long-lasting hydration goes.
😊 PROS
The good news is the advertised "star" ingredients are at the top of the list. Shea Butter (hydration, nourishment), Coconut Oil (nourishment), Glycerin (occlusive layer, hydration), Hyaluronic Acid (deep hydration), Prebiotic Hibiscus (natural microbiome supporting skin's protective barrier), Balsam Copaiba (healing, antibacterial), Bacuri Seed Butter (intense moisture), Cupuacu Seed Butter (combats free radicals, nourishes), Squalene (skin softening emollient), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), and Achiote Seed Extract (combats free radicals) to name a few.
☹️ CONS
This is a fragranced product with a high concentration of Parfum, which might not be good news for those, whose skin is intolerant to it. My skin is very sensitive, however, I have not had an adverse reaction to the Delícia Drench Body Butter.
Vegan🌱 Cruelty-free🐇
Texture: whipped, Greek-yoghurt consistency. If you want something lighter and less buttery in feel, you can opt for any other cream from the brand instead.
Scent: a warm scent, described as a mix of Sugared Violet, Vanilla Orchid, and Sandalwood. To me, it is strong on vanilla and sugar. Not as sweet as some of the other fragrances by Sol de Janeiro, but still quite memorable and long-lasting. You can purchase the fragrance separately, it is Cheirosa 59 (reviewed here).
Application: the Delícia Drench Body Butter is an all-over body product, so use it as you please. Massage it into the skin, let it sit for a moment, and go about your day. Smooth, spreadable, and gets absorbed with ease despite its rich texture. I do not know if this is just me, but it almost has this nice cooling sensation as you apply it. Once it sets, it does not get greasy, sticky, or oily. Skin feels baby-soft.
Wear: the sensation of well-hydrated skin lasts well throughout the day. Even after taking a shower, you can still feel your skin being soft and nourished. The scent lasts just as long (at least 12 hours), which is something I enjoy as I love the Cheirosa 59. To me, it is a very comforting, gourmand scent that is feminine and alluring.
Verdict
While spiders remained unbothered by the scent, many people seemed to fall in love with the Delícia Drench Body Butter and I can finally see why. Not only does it smell like a sweet vanilla cloud on a sunny day, but it also nourishes the skin like no other. I must admit, this is the most hydrating body product that Sol de Janeiro have launched thus far. It is rich but still so luxurious in the way it applies, wears, and feels. Also, a true savior for dry skin beauties. This crème de la crème of body butters gets a well-deserved A+ from me.
