Cosrx Pure Fit Cica Cream, Review

Cosrx Pure Fit Cica Cream Review

K-Beauty is all around us

Foreword

My mind is always curious about new skincare products and after hearing so many good things about one of K-beauty’s most coveted brands Cosrx, I figured to give their products a try. In this post we will be specifically talking about Pure Fit Cica Cream.

My Skin: dry, sensitive

About the Product

Cosrx Pure Fit Cica Cream (32 USD; Made in Korea) – is described as a soothing, calming, strengthening and protecting moisturizer that is powered with seven Cica ingredients.

What is Cica

Centella Asiatica is a plant native to Asia. It has been used for hundreds of years in traditional medicine to heal wounds, inflammation, eczema, psoriasis and various other skin conditions. Cica is rich in amino acids, antioxidants and fatty acids which help restore the skin and even boost natural collagen production. In short: I am a big fan.

Packaging: I quite like this simplistic, yet practical packaging (tube) and look. You get 50 ml/ 1.7 fl oz of product.

Formula:

😃 PROS

This moisturizer is based on a “CICA-7 Complex” (high concentration of Centella Asiatica Extract, Centella Asiatica Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Root Extract, Asiaticoside, Asiatic Acid, Madecassic Acid, Madecassoside), making it one of the most potent Cica moisturizers on the market. It also contains Macadamia Seed Oil, Panthenol, Beeswax and Glycerin which explains why this formula is quite nourishing and soothing.

😕 CONS

Sodium Hyaluronate is making a cameo here too, however, it is listed at the end of the ingredients’ list (aka its content is low). One ingredient I wasn’t initially too happy about was Dimethicone (listed in the middle), since a high concentration of silicones can create a product build-up and thus lead to irritation. Now, Dimethicone is generally considered noncomedogenic and it actually does a decent job at creating an occlusive layer that prevents future water loss. I will jump a bit ahead and say that Pure Fit Cica Cream did not clog my pores or cause breakouts. Plus, with no other silicone siblings around, Dimethicone concentration in this formula is not that bad. Do I still prefer silicone-free skincare though? Yes.

Cosrx Pure Fit Cica Cream Review

Texture: lightweight lotion-like, creamy consistency. Glides on like silk, absorbs beautifully leaving a natural skin finish. No pilling.

Scent: none detected.

Application: can be used AM/PM. I prefer to use Pure Fit Cica Cream as my day-time moisturizer as it plays well with both make-up and sunscreen.

Immediate Results: skin feels silky-smooth, plush and hydrated. This sensation lasts pretty much all day. If there is a feeling of discomfort, irritation, sensitivity or dryness - Pure Fit Cica Cream will calm your skin and pretty much “take the pain away”. Does not get greasy over time.

Long-term Results: I have noticed little to no texture, dry patches or clogged pores since I have started using this product. Overall, my skin feels balanced and well moisturized. Although I am naturally dry, this formula makes me feel as if I have normal skin type (not dry, not oily – a nice in between). I must add that Pure Fit Cica Cream played a good role in healing my skin barrier.

Cosrx Pure Fit Cica Cream Review

Verdict

This was my first time trying a Cosrx product and in all honesty, I am quite impressed with Pure Fit Cica Cream. Although it hasn’t changed my skin dramatically, it does make it feel and look great. This will be a good pick for most skin types, specifically sensitive ones. To me this is a wonderful, affordable every-day moisturizer that has skin-loving ingredients in it and is quite soothing. I do wish there was no Dimethicone here still, but other than that it is a solid product that deserves B+
