PACKAGING

The brand packaging has seen a slight refresh - the new product comes in a light dusty purple box with bold golden details. The design itself is quintessentially Lisa Eldridge - an elegant twist-up stick with a golden cap engraved with the iconic brand logo. Each stick contains 4.8g / 0.17 oz of product. The Velatura Balm is portable and travel-friendly.

FORMULA

The formula is based on emollients (Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Diisostearyl Malate, Isostearyl Isostearate, Octyldodecanol), waxes (Synthetic Wax, Candelilla Wax, Ozokerite), film-formers (Polybutene), and pigments. It also contains Shea Butter for skin conditioning and antioxidants to maintain freshness.

😊 PROS

The rich emollients make the Velatura Balm feel silky-smooth, cushiony, and non-drying. Waxes and film-formers help the balm adhere well to lips and skin, while Shea Butter reduces dryness and improves skin barrier. Despite the inclusion of Polybutene, the balm never feels waxy or heavy.

☹️ CONS

Most of the Lisa Eldridge products are fragrance-free, however, the Velatura Balm has Ethyl Vanillin. This is a synthetic aroma commonly used in makeup to add a sweet vanilla scent. While it is generally safe, those sensitive to fragrances should test the formula first.

Personally, I did not face any adverse reactions while using this product.

TEXTURE

The Velatura Balm has a lightweight, balmy consistency. It glides on easily without feeling sticky or waxy.

SHADES

The collection currently offers five shades. The one featured in this post is called Rose Madder, described as a "natural, cool pink".

For reference, I am shade T3 in the Seamless Skin Enhancing Tint and shade 7 in The Foundation. On my skin, Rose Madder adds a natural, neutral-rosy flush.

SCENT

A sweet vanilla scent, which is noticeable but never overpowering.

APPLICATION

The Velatura Balm, being a true multi-tasker, can be applied to your lips and cheeks. It works beautifully as a sheer-toned, tinted lip balm or a dewy blush. I often use it on the brow bone as well, creating a monochromatic "clean girl" look.

When layering the Velatura Balm over a tint or foundation, I recommend picking it up with a brush rather than applying it directly to the skin. You can load the brush (synthetic bristles work best) from the tube or the back of your hand. This way you won't disrupt your makeup base.

Without a base, you can apply the Velatura Balm directly, blending it with fingers or a synthetic brush. You can add more layers to build up color intensity.

as a lip balm

The formula can be worn alone or paired with a lip pencil for more definition. Apply sheer or layer for added intensity - this is a very flexible, pleasant formula to work with.

FINISH

The balm delivers a high-shine, dewy finish on the cheeks and a lustrous finish on the lips.

WEAR

Thanks to the semi-translucent nature of this product, the wear-time ranges from 3 to 5 hours before gradual fading occurs. On the lips, the Velatura Balm needs reapplication after eating or drinking. The formula feels weightless, comfortable, without accentuating texture. It does not bleed, get blotchy or patchy. And yes - it is even Pilates-proof.

Verdict

Here is a perfect multi-use product for those of you, who love a seamless, believable, and incredibly natural "no makeup" look. The Velatura Balm delivers flushed cheeks and luminous lips in a single tube. The shade range, while minimal, offers a well-curated selection of flattering colors for a variety of skin tones. These shades are not only pretty and enlivening but also apply and wear effortlessly. Ideal for on-the-go or quick "I only have five minutes" looks. It is an ultimate companion for the gym, beach, or travel. I give this Lisa Eldridge creation a well-deserved A.
