About the Product
Kosas Wet Stick Moisturizing Lip Shine (24 USD; Made in USA) - is the brand's sheer, shiny lipstick/lip balm hybrid filled with beneficial skincare ingredients to further nourish and soften the lips.
Packaging: magnetic metal-plastic tube of an icy blue color. The packaging is quite high-shine, reflective, and eye-catching. Every shade name is printed on a small, color-coded sticker on the bottom of the lipstick. At 3.1g/ 0.10 oz, the Wet Stick Moisturizing Lip Shine contains less product compared to comparable lipsticks. In fact, I have a tube of the same Kosas lipstick from 2023 and it used to weigh 3.7g/ 0.13 oz.

Formula: Kosas positions itself as a clean brand and puts a big emphasis on integrating skin-loving ingredients into their formulations. The top ingredient of the Wet Stick Moisturizing Lip Shine is Squalane (a powerful moisturizer) that helps soothe and protect lips' delicate skin barrier. You also look at skin-conditioning Hyaluronic Acid, Gluccomannan (a polysaccharide), Ceramide NG (supports skin barrier), Mango Seed Butter (nourishment), and various antioxidants in a form of Sunflower Extract, Rice Bran Extract, Rosemary Leaf Extract, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), and so on.
Personally speaking, I did not face any adverse reactions while using the product.
Vegan🌱 Cruelty-free🐇
Scent: the Wet Stick Moisturizing Lip Shine has a noticeable vanilla scent. While there is no added fragrance, I believe this has to do with the presence of Vanillin as an ingredient.
Texture: smooth, balmy consistency. Neither too melty, nor thick.
Shade: currently available in twelve wearable shades (nudes, pinks, mauves, browns). I own three, which are featured in this post - Skinny Dip (cool baby pink), Baby Rose (neutral light pink), and Tropic Bliss (cool rosy mauve). All of the Wet Stick Moisturizing Lip Shine shades are flattering, modern, and true to color.
Given their sheer nature, these lipsticks do not swatch opaque, but the color can be built up. Please see unedited swatches below (shot in natural daylight). My skin tone is light-neutral.
Finish: semi-glossy. Not as shiny as a lipgloss per se, but not as satin as a full coverage lipstick.
Bullet - Tropic Bliss
Swatched (L-R) - Baby Rose, Tropic Bliss, Skinny Dip
Application: the shape of the lipstick is slanted, which makes it easy to swipe on the color even without a mirror. Initially the Wet Stick Moisturizing Lip Shine appears sheer, but you can easily layer it for a light-medium coverage.
You can wear this lipstick as a balm or pair it with a lip liner for a more defined look.
Wear: similar to most light-coverage and glossy formulations, the Wet Stick Moisturizing Lip Shine wears off quickly (2-3 hours without eating or drinking). Re-application is needed to maintain the color. Some shades may accentuate lip texture and stick to drier areas. Nothing a bit of scrubbing won't fix. This product feels comfortable and lightweight on the lips. It adds the right amount of shine, however, I would not label it as a lip treatment since it is not as hydrating as an actual balm, butter, or mask.
Verdict
Lipstick is my top favorite makeup product to talk about. Over the years I have played with a plethora of textures, colors, formulations - you name it. I believe in 2025 it is hard to impress the beauty community with something truly innovative. Most of us have tried it all, so it really comes down to personal preference. Having said that, if you like a sheer, comfortable tinted lip balm with just a hint of color and shine - the Wet Stick Moisturizing Lip Shine might be a product to consider. While it is not the most groundbreaking formulation, it lives up to its claims, adds light hydration, and enlivens the complexion. Bonus points for the use of skin-loving ingredients. Overall, I do like this Kosas creation and give it a B.
