skincare genie in a bottle
Foreword
Caudalie, our beloved French skincare geniuses, have recently revamped their well-known Resveratrol-Lift line. New formulas claim to be stronger and more effective backed up by research done in collaboration with no other but Harvard University. In this post, we will discuss a reformulated version of the best-selling serum. Is it just as good as the old one?

My Skin: dry and sensitive.
About the Product
Caudalie Resveratrol-Lift Instant Firming Serum (84 USD; Made in France) - is described as a serum that lifts, firms, and smooths wrinkles or fine lines. It uses vegan collagen as a patented alternative to Retinol which claims to be at least three times more effective.
Packaging: true to the brand's chic aesthetic, this serum comes in a mattified baby-pink glass bottle. You get a color-matching pump that can't be locked (to avoid spilling). The updated version has a bright indigo-blue font. You get 30 ml/ 1 fl oz worth of product per bottle.
Fully Recyclable ♻️
Formula: now, what is new about this formula? I am sure many of us are familiar with the original (reviewed here), which we loved. After all, it is a bit nerve-racking when companies rebrand cult products.
PROS ☺️
The Resveratrol-Lift Instant Firming Serum is a water-based, Glycerin-rich (occlusive) formula that lists Squalane (moisture), Grapevine Shoot Extract (antioxidant, protection), Sunflower Seed Oil (moisture), Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid (smaller molecules of Hyaluronic Acid that go deep into the skin) to name a few. An eye-catching ingredient to me was Khaya Senegalensis, which is a rare African mahogany tree extract (skin elasticity, improved wrinkles, pores, and lines).
CONS 😐
Although barely noticeable, there is an added fragrance. Thankfully it does not affect my skin, but if yours is extra sensitive to scents as a whole, make sure to sample this product first.
Vegan🌱 Gluten-Free🌾 Cruelty-Free🐇
Compared to the original version, the upgraded Resveratrol-Lift Instant Firming Serum has a runnier consistency that absorbs even faster.
Texture: milky, lightweight.
Scent: a barely-there herbal fragrance that dissipates once the product is applied.
Finish: natural skin finish.
Application: unlike most Retinol serums, the Resveratrol-Lift Instant Firming Serum can be used both during your AM and PM skincare routines. Given its weightlessness and ease of absorption, it can also be layered in combination with any other serums you already use and love. Simply give it a moment to set and proceed with your next product. One pump should be enough to cover your face (you may use a second pump for the neck and decolletage).
first impression
Skin feels refreshed and moisturized. The serum behaves well under makeup and keeps skin balanced well throughout the day.
long-term use
Skin is noticeably more supple and balanced. Pores do not get clogged and any minor irritations (such as hormonal breakouts) heal quickly. While I can't vouch for things like deep wrinkles, the Resveratrol-Lift Instant Firming Serum certainly helped improve the look of some of my fine lines (especially those on my forehead). Skin is smooth, with no irritation, texture, or dryness in sight.
Verdict
Those of you, who have been in touch with me through social media, know that I have gone through multiple bottles of the original serum in the past. The revamped version of the Resveratrol-Lift Instant Firming Serum offers just as many wonderful benefits and is also safe for people with intolerance to the classic Retinol as well as pregnant women. In my opinion, it works wonders in combination with the Resveratrol-Lift line as a whole, where each formulation complements the other. If you are at an early stage of your preventative skincare journey, you could truly enjoy a range like this. At this point this product has become such a staple in my routine, I gladly give it an A rating.
