Caudalie S.O.S Intense Moisturizing Cream, Review

caudalie vinosource s.o.s intense moisturizing cream review

"Invest in your skin. It is going to represent you for a very long time."

Foreword

If I could have an endless supply of only one skincare product - it would be a good moisturizer. Shouldn't come as a shocker, since this girl is as dry as Sahara desert. Thankfully my all-time favourite French skincare brand Caudalie just launched an exciting new Vinosource Creme S.O.S Intense Moisturizing Cream, which I have been testing for a couple of weeks now. In this post I am going to finally share everything there is to know about the new formula, so if you are curious - just keep on scrolling!

My skin: dry, sensitive; prone to dehydration and texture

About the Product

In case you are new to Caudalie - it is worth noting that the brand is famous (and loved) for its use of organic grape water, grape seed polyphenols (antioxidant protection) and naturally-derived squalane. But what I respect the most is that Caudalie always strive to deliver high-impact results with their vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free and overall clean skincare formulas, while still doing a lot for the Planet. That includes using recyclable packaging and donating a certain percentage of sales to plant trees.

Vinosource Creme S.O.S Intense Moisturizing Cream (42 USD; Made in France) promises to give intense moisture, hydrating even the most sensitive skin. This formula is essentially created with normal, dry and sensitive skin types in mind. So if you experience extra redness, dryness, dullness and uneven texture - this one is for you.

Formula, Texture: this product has quite a watery-yet-creamy texture. It does not feel like gel in the slightest. But when it is freshly applied - it kind of gives you that sensation of splashing water onto the face; in other words it is extremely hydrating and refreshing from the get-go. Typically extra moisturizing formulas can feel a bit thick or borderline oily/greasy, which means they are hard to blend and even harder to absorb. Thankfully, none of that is the case here. This cream has a subtle fresh, green scent (from my experience it disappeared relatively fast, causing no irritation).

Wear, Feel: as the brand suggests, you can easily use your Vinosource Creme S.O.S Intense Moisturizing Cream both in the morning/evening. For the sake of this review, I have tried wearing it both ways and honestly speaking - my skin felt amazing. If you are more on a normal side, then save this one for your nighttime routine. If you are more on a dry side, feel free to use it whenever you please. This formula gets absorbed relatively fast, leaving your skin looking and feeling hydrated, supple and glowy. It does not feel sticky, gooey or heavy in the slightest.

If you are a makeup wearer, this cream will create a beautiful (and most importantly protective) base for any other product you choose to apply on top of it.

Results: now, this must be the most interesting part. Does it really improve your skin over time? Yes, ma'am. There is little to no texture and my skin looks bright and radiant; it is smooth, clear and well-balanced/moisturized. If you are familiar (perhaps in love) with the brand's iconic Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet, then I feel like you are going to really enjoy this new product. It is essentially a richer (PM) version of Sorbet, which is going to be mostly loved by those with drier, easily irritated skin.

I am pretty happy with my overall Clean Skincare Routine at the moment (read more about it here), big part of which happens to be Caudalie. I am quite selective about products I choose to introduce into my existing routine and surprisingly Vinosource Creme S.O.S Intense Moisturizing Cream fit in right away. I am currently using mine in the evening, right after properly cleansing and toning the skin. Although two products are completely different, it is a wonderful (more affordable) alternative to Drunk Elephant LaLa Retro Whipped Moisturizer. My skin is equally happy with both, so it is nice to know that I now have different options when it comes to my nighttime creams.

Verdict

What else to say? This new guy is a total winner. Being a huge fan of Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet, I was hoping for a slightly stronger version of the same formula for both my nighttime routine and colder winter months, which is exactly what Vinosource Creme S.O.S Intense Moisturizing Cream stands for. At the moment I use Sorbet in the morning, S.O.S in the evening and my skin couldn't be more grateful. I also notice that I break out less, which is a huge thing in my book. If you have normal, normal-dry or dry skin type - I have a feeling you are going to love this new formula, as it is both rich in nourishing ingredients and lightweight at the same time. A++ from moi!
