Bite Beauty Outburst Longwear Lip Stain, Review

bite beauty outburst longwear lip stain review

You got me at intensely-bold and easy to control

Foreword

Royals welcomed a baby and we, makeup junkies of the World, welcomed a lip stain formula. Bite Beauty just dropped an ultimate summer staple - their hot new Outburst Longwear Lip Stain is here and I am excited to finally share my thoughts on it with you guys. If you are curious to learn more about the product [as well as find out why it is so special], then just keep on scrolling!

About the Product

Outburst Longwear Lip Stain (24 USD; Made in Canada) - is described as "an intensely bold lip stain", which should be hydrating, long-wearing, lightweight and (drum roll) waterproof. This formula is vegan, cruelty- and gluten-free and available in three shades only.

Packaging: I love it when Bite Beauty plays with new designs and this packaging speaks to me on so many levels. It is minimalistic, yet so modern and cool at the same time. Same signature soft-touch bullet, but this time every stain comes with a colour-matching logo (which is such a smart move on the brand's part). In two words: what you see on the outside matches what is on the inside; so even if you own all shades, it won't be hard to distinguish one from the other.

Formula & Texture: weightless, creamy, lipbalm-esque texture that glides on like silk. Feels uber smooth and hydrating. It won't settle into lip lines or bleed, but will transfer. While it leaves you with a nice natural-satin finish (and a fair amount of sheen), it won't really dry down. These stains feel extra nourishing (thanks to Passionflower, Coconut Oils and Sunflower Seed Wax) and have a faint vanilla scent.

Application: this new [slimmer] lipstick bullet has a perfect shape and width; one that should work for pretty much anyone, despite how thin or full your lips are. Since it is quite a potent stain, you want to be a bit more precise with your application. Unless you have a very steady hand, I would recommend using a brush to ensure that your pout is picture-perfect. You pretty much forget when Outburst Longwear Lip Stain is on your lips - it is that feather-light. These coat lips evenly, without accentuating dryness. Naturally, I would always use a lip scrub beforehand; my current go-to is Agave+ Weekly Lip Scrub (review here).

Wear two layers if you want a bold lip look or blot your stain down for more of a laidback pool, cocktails and lemonade summer vibe.

Wear: now, this is the most interesting part. When freshly applied, these have a lovely juicy sheen to them. However, once the top layer wears off, you are left with a kissable berry-toned stain that is going to survive everything but oil-based food. Unlike most stains, that immediately sink into the skin and pretty much suck the life out of your lips, these remain hydrating and balmy all day long. As I have mentioned earlier, they do transfer, but not to the point where they appear patchy or weird (unless you choose to munch on something grilled of course).

As always - all of my swatches are unedited and raw (no added saturation or brightness here, baby).

Colours: all three shades are absolutely beautiful. I can always rely on the brand for both: comfortable/long-lasting wear and pigmentation; these new babies are no exception. You can choose between: Orange-Fizz (bright orange coral), Strawberry Froze (hot pink) and Sangria Slush (bold true red). All shades are universally-flattering and can be worn sheer or opaque. When it comes to the stain (not the initial colour), I have a feeling it is going to look pretty much the same no matter what shade you end up going for. Maybe they used one "stain base" at the lab; at least on me all three leave a bright berry wash of colour with a minor difference in undertones. Please bear in mind that my lips are naturally quite pink already.

Who is going to love these? If you love a bold lip colour, but have no patience to constantly re-apply your lipstick throughout the day - Outburst Longwear Lip Stain might easily become your new bestie. It lasts all day long and is quite a low-maintenance lip product really. Just make sure to scrub your lips well before applying it and stay away from greasy food if you don't want a blotchy look. Orange Fizz is my personal favourite here.

Verdict

It might come as a shocker, but before discovering this formula, I would avoid lip stains at all costs. Why? They would make my lips feel dry, uncomfortable and borderline miserable. I have always loved Bite Beauty lipsticks and thankfully their Outburst Longwear Lip Stain collection turned out to be absolutely beautiful (both in terms of what it looks and feels like). I love how delicious these colours appear when you initially apply them; they don't move or slide around, surviving heat of the sun and coolness of water. Wear them sheer or bold, they will look equally stunning. Great for travels, parties or even long days at the office. Couldn't think of a better summer lip accessory! A from moi.
